What Does Confidence Mean to YOU?

Hello Media.

The definition of confidence is “a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.”

But what does the word mean to YOU?

My class was tasked with a project, to spread a positive message using social media.

I chose to spread confidence, as I feel that it is something everyone should have, in moderation of course.

I have always loved to speak in front of large crowds, give presentations in class, feeling absolutely fine with all eyes on me. Yet, many kids are not. So I decided to spread this feeling of self assurance and love so that other children can also speak up, share their thoughts and stand out.

Instead of using one platform to share my message, I decided to incorporate Instagram, Youtube and my blog. Wanting to maximize my audience and the amount of people I can reach , I decided that would be the best combination.

After thinking up many ideas, I set out  to collect people’s definitions of the word, of “confidence”. What is more personal than thoughts and a definition right from someone’s head? I wanted to find out what it means to them, what it means to be confident and to have confidence. That way, it would mean more than just a generic quote or a standard definition.

As a start, I created my Instagram account, @confidenceig, which if you have noticed has a rainbow and sky theme. I used this account to spread quotes about confidence, taken from places like Pinterest but all of the photos were taken and edited by me.

On my main account @sunsh1nx I posted a photo (which is now deleted) of my definition and I asked people to comment their versions below.

Many of my classmates also had texted me their definitions, and I have included a few.

After gathering and processing all of the above, I created my final product, the video below.

I hope you enjoy it and that it inspires you to have confidence in yourself, in others and to spread this wonderful message 🙂
